Intel: SMU guard Mailien Rolf to redshirt
SMU sophomore guard Mailien Rolf suffered a torn ACL in the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket Tournament this summer and will redshirt the 2025-26 season, sources told On3.
The 5-10 guard transferred to SMU from Arizona, following new head coach Adia Barnes. She averaged 3.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and nearly one steal per game last season as a freshman in 19.4 minutes per game.
Rolf played for Germany at the 2025 FIBA Women’s U20 EuroBasket Tournament and has competed for several FIBA tournament teams for Germany over the years.
“She is really good at pick-and-roll situations and can play a lot of positions for us,” Barnes said about Rolf in 2024. “She has a strong, athletic body, and has good size as a perimeter player…She is a great player, but an even greater person. Mailien has potential to be a very special player.”

Rolf was one of three Arizona players to follow Barnes to SMU. 5-foot-9 senior guard Paulina Paris and 6-0 junior post player Sahnya Jah both joined the Mustangs from Arizona as well. Paris averaged 8.3 points per game last season with the Wildcats and Jah averaged 6.6 points in 18 games.
Last season, SMU finished with a 2-16 ACC record and a 10-20 overall record. SMU will begin its 2025-26 regular-season campaign on Nov. 4, hosting Grambling State at 11 am CST.
