Former Florida guard Myka Perry intends to enter the transfer portal
Former Florida guard Myka Perry intends to enter the transfer portal, she told On3. Perry has three years of eligibility remaining after playing her freshman campaign with the Gators and taking two seasons away from the sport.
Now, she told On3 that she is ready for a fresh start.
“I’m in a much better headspace going into this time than I was the first time around,” Perry told On3. “I’m working hard. I’m ready to make a difference wherever I go. I want to make an immediate impact. I’ve been in the gym and in the weight room pretty hard the past couple weeks, and I just feel good about this. I feel like I owe it to myself and to the little girl inside of me to fulfill her dream.”
Perry played in 24 games during her freshman campaign at Florida, averaging 2.8 points per game. She had standout performances against Arkansas and South Carolina, scoring 17 and 10 points, respectively.
The 6-foot-1 combo guard from Norman, Oklahoma, is open when it comes to location, but is looking for a program where it feels like home. She told On3 that relationships and a supportive environment will play a role in her decision.

“Relationships are important to me,” Perry said. “Feeling like I’m at a home away from home is important to me. In a coach, honesty is important. It’s important for whoever I’m around to believe in me, and I want to believe in whoever I’m around.”
Perry describes herself as a versatile two-way player who thrives in an up-tempo system.
“I’m a combo guard and a two-way player,” Perry said. “I take defense very seriously and I can score from all three levels on offense.”
Perry intends to officially enter her name in the transfer portal when it opens on March 25.
