Former Army DB Donavon Platt commits to Virginia

Former Army defensive back Donavon Platt committed to Virginia out of the NCAA transfer portal per On3’s Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong. He spent three years with the Black Knights.

While at Army, Platt in 29 games over the course of three seasons. He finished with 40 total tackles, two interceptions and three pass deflections.

As a member of the Class of 2021, Platt was not ranked, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He played his high school football at Lucy Ragsdale in Jamestown (N.C.). He also spent a year at the US Military Academy Prep prior to West Point.

Donavon Platt commits to Virginia out of portal

Platt was the latest defensive back to commit to Virginia out of the transfer portal. Former Miami DB Emmanuel Karnley committed at the end of April.

Karnley appeared in 10 games at Arizona this past season to record 16 tackles and five passes defended. Prior to that, he redshirted his freshman year with the Wildcats.

Emmanuel Karnley played high school football at Pittsburg in Walnut Creek, California, where he was a three-star recruit. He ranked as the No. 824 overall player and No. 81 cornerback in the 2023 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
