USC TE Lake McRee declares for 2026 NFL Draft
USC tight end Lake McRee has declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, according to a post on social media. He did not announce whether he will play in the team’s Alamo Bowl game on Dec. 30.
Ryan Kartje of the Los Angeles Times shared a graphic on McRee outlining his decision. It was extensive.
“I’m officially declaring the 2026 NFL Draft,” Lake McRee wrote. “This dream wouldn’t be possible without the constant support of my coaches, trainers, teammates, and the incredible staff here at USC.”
McRee went on to thank his family, his coaching staff, his teammates and the fans. USC is losing a good one.
The talented 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end is third on the team in receiving this year. He has logged 30 catches for a career-high 450 yards and four touchdowns.
Lake McCree has essentially increased his production in each of his five years with the Trojans. In his career, he has hauled in 97 passes for 1,154 yards and seven touchdowns. But he’s also known as a very strong blocker.

McRee credited the team’s coaching staff with getting him prepared for the 2026 NFL Draft. He noted them in his departure message.
“To coach Riley, Hanson, Savage, Spence and the entire coaching staff, thank you for your guidance, your mentorship, and for giving me the opportunity to represent this historic program,” Lake McRee wrote. “I’m grateful for everything you’ve poured into me.”
With the direction the NFL has gone in coveting top-notch playmakers at tight end, Lake McRee should fare well at the next level. He’ll miss the bonds he built playing in southern California, though.
“To my teammates — my brothers: Thank you for pushing me, challenging me, and making these years unforgettable,” McRee wrote. “The memories we created will stay with me forever.”
