Report: USC guard Jerry Easter II plans to enter Transfer Portal
USC freshman guard Jerry Easter II plans to enter the Transfer Portal. 247Sports first reported the news.
Easter II was tabbed as a four-star recruit in the Class of 2025 by Rivals. In his lone season at USC, the Toledo native averaged 4.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. Easter II’s best game at USC came in an 84-76 loss to Washington on Dec. 6, in which he scored a career-high 13 points.
The 6’5″ guard is the first USC player to announce his intentions to enter the Portal.
The Trojans are coming off a disappointing 18-14 (7-13) campaign in their second season under head coach Eric Musselman. USC opened the season with an unblemished 8-0 record after winning the Maui Invitational and knocking off Oregon in its Big Ten opener, even jumping to No. 24 in the AP Poll.

USC ended season on eight-game losing streak
Musselman’s team looked like a lock to make the NCAA Tournament as of Feb. 8, as they boasted an 18-6 record. They, however, dropped their final seven regular season games and were knocked out of the Big Ten Tournament in the Second Round by Washington. The Trojans decided not to compete in the National Invitational Tournament or the College Basketball Crown, ending the season.
“Disappointing last eight games of the season. I thought up until that point we played good basketball,” Musselman said following USC‘s Big Ten Tournament loss. “We were in a good spot in the Big Ten standings.
“We were in a good spot in the NCAA bubble watch or whatever at that point, but the last eight games has not been good, and it’s basically been second halves that have hurt us. I can’t wait to get to work for next year, starting tonight when I get back to the hotel.”
Across two seasons at USC, Musselman has led the Trojans to a less-than-stellar 35-32 (14-26) record with no NCAA Tournament appearances. Prior to taking the job in LA, Musselman led Arkansas to back-to-back Elite Eight appearances (2021 and 2022) and a trip to the Sweet Sixteen (2023). He has not yet experienced success in the Big Ten.
