Tulane RB Javin Gordon plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Tulane running back Javin Gordon plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Despite only being a freshman this season, Gordon played a massive role for the Green Wave. He finished the season with 516 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 128 carries. He also notched 13 catches for 93 yards and a score.
Gordon had his best performance of the season in Tulane’s 31-14 win over Tulsa on Sept. 27. In the win, Gordon tallied 78 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, becoming one of only three freshmen in Tulane history to record three TDs in a single game.
Javin Gordon played high school football at Stephens County (GA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 101 running back and No. 137 player in Georgia in the 2025 recruiting cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings.
Fans will undoubtedly keep an eye on Gordon’s interest in Florida. Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall accepted an offer to take over the Gators in November, but finished out the season at Tulane.
It wouldn’t be surprising for multiple Tulane players to follow Sumrall to Gainesville, Florida. After all, 15 Florida players have already announced their intent to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Thus, Sumrall will need to reconstruct the roster this spring.
Of course, Tulane will be rebuilding as well. The school named Will Hall its next head coach in December, though it allowed Sumrall to coach in the College Football Playoff. Hall was Tulane’s pass game coordinator this season. He spent four seasons as Southern Miss‘ head coach prior to that.

Sumrall will need high-level talent to accomplish the goals he’s set in place. At his introductory press conference, he painted an enticing picture for Gators fans.
“I will never back down,” Sumrall said. “We’re going to do everything we can to win fast. I have a plan for how we can win long-term, but I want to win tomorrow and today and every day. I respect that the Florida fan base is not patient.
“They want to win right now, too. You’ve got the right coach. … I was made for this job. Winners win. I’m a winner. We’re going to win. Here’s the deal: I need everybody pulling the ropes in the same direction. If we’re all Gators and we all want to win, let’s do it together.”
