3-star DL Gavin Geweniger commits to Stanford

Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral three-star defensive lineman Gavin Geweniger committed to Stanford on Saturday. The 6-foot-4, 245 pound prospect chose the Huskies over Arizona, Colorado, San Diego State and Washington.

Geweniger is the No. 795 overall prospect and the No. 88 defensive lineman in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 13 player in Arizona.

How Geweniger impacts on Stanford’s 2023 recruiting class

Geweniger is the 15th member of Stanford’s 2023 recruiting class. He is one of three defensive lineman in the group alongside Chatsworth (Calif.) four-star Cameron Brandt and Woodberry Forest (Va.) three-star Armel Mukam. The Cardinal’s highest-rated commitment is Folsom (Calif.) four-star tight end Walker Lyons, the No. 96 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

Prior to Geweniger’s commitment, Stanford’s class is currently ranked No. 20 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 3 in the Pac-12. Six of the Cardinal’s commitments are four-star recruits including Lyons, Brandt, Haslet (Texas) Eaton tight end Jaden Platt, American Fork (Utah) EDGE Hunter Clegg, St. John Bosco cornerback Jshawn Frausto-Ramos and Canutillo (Texas) running back L.J. Martin.

The other nine Stanford pledges are three-star recruits. They are Geweniger, Mukam, Miami Christopher Columbus High School running back Sedrick Irvin Jr., Bainbridge (Ga.) Robert F. Munroe Day School wide receiver Ahmari Borden, Murrieta (Calif.) wide receiver Tiger Bachmeier, Elk Grove (Calif.) interior offensive lineman Simione Pale, Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman interior offensive lineman Zak Yamauchi, Westlake Village (Calif.) offensive tackle Luke Baklenko and Pacific Palisades (Calif.) Oaks Christian kicker Aidan Flintoft.
