South Carolina WR Brian Rowe plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Rowe was a four-star recruit in the 2025 class.

Rowe caught 19 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown as a true freshman this past regular season. His best performance of the season came in September against Missouri on the road, catching three passes for 50 yards and the lone touchdown of his young career.

He was suspended for the Oklahoma game in October alongside DL Davonte Miles and EDGE Anthony Addison for “a violation of team standards,” head coach Shane Beamer said at the time. It’s not clear what Rowe and his teammates were suspended for.

Before arriving in Columbia, Rowe’s four-star status netted him the No. 268 overall ranking in the class of 2025 and was the No. 38 player at his position. That’s according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 9 player in his home state of North Carolina.

South Carolina would go on to finished the 2025 season with a 4-8 record, which included a 1-7 mark against the SEC. It’s the second time in three years that the Gamecocks have missed out on the postseason.

Once the NCAA transfer portal opens on Jan. 2, players can officially enter their names in the NCAA transfer portal and go on to initiate contact with their preferred schools. The portal will be open for 15 days and close on Jan. 16.

Notably, players who are on teams competing in the national championship game are allowed five extra days to make their portal decision. The College Football Playoff championship game will be played on Jan. 19, so the players on those teams will be allowed until Jan. 24 to enter the portal and choose their next school.
