4-star PG Dior Johnson commits to Pittsburgh
Four-star point guard Dior Johnson has committed to the University of Pittsburgh, he told On3.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound prospect out of Castaic (Calif.) Southern California Academy decommitted from Oregon on Thursday. After his recruitment only being open for roughly 72 hours, Johnson narrowed his list of schools to three, ultimately choosing the Pittsburgh Panthers over Mississippi State and Washington State.
Johnson, who was once considered a five-star recruit and the No. 1 overall point guard in the country, is Pitt’s eighth addition to their 2022 class. He joins four-star twin big men Jorge and Guillermo Diaz, to go along with five transfers — Iowa State’s Blake Hinson (9.1 PPG in 2019-20), Colgate’s Nelly Cummings (14.7 PPG), Marquette’s Greg Elliott (7.0 PPG), Cashius McNeilly (JC), and Fede Federiko (JC).

Prior to signing with Oregon, Johnson considered Alabama, Kentucky, Washington, and the NBL, a professional basketball league. Johnson, a New York native, was also once committed to Syracuse.
Johnson is ranked as the No. 50 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
