Four-Star DL Johnny Bowens commits to Oregon

Four-star defensive lineman Johnny Bowens of Converse (TX) Judson High announced his commitment to Oregon Thursday afternoon. 

The 6-foot-4, 275 pounder chose the Ducks over Texas and Texas A&M.

Bowens on why he chose Oregon

“I just felt like he (Dan Lanning) was the best coach for me,” Bowens said. “He already has a history coaching good players, and he’s a good person on and off the field.”

“I’m close with everyone on the staff, and that was a big thing to me because I’m going to be far from home,” Bowens said. “They also plan on putting me anywhere on the field.”

Expectations for ‘23 Oregon Class

“We have a lot of good players coming in, and a lot of playmakers,” Bowens said. “I feel like we can win a lot and grow a lot off of each other.”

The Lone Star State defensive lineman joins coach Lanning and the Ducks’ Top 10 class. He is accompanied by Dante Moore, Jurrion Dickey, and others.

Denmark ranks as the No. 272 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 36 defensive lineman and the No. 50 player in the state of Texas.
