Michigan DB Brandyn Hillman plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Michigan defensive back Brandyn Hillman plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Hillman spent three years in the program after signing with the Wolverines out of high school. Plenty of changes have taken place in Ann Arbor, though, and Hillman is the latest to look for a change of scenery.
Hillman was a solid contributor for Michigan during his time, including during the 2023 national championship-winning team. He played in a total of 33 games, recording 72 tackles, four tackles for a loss, and a sack.
But teams are going to be a little more interested in his coverage stats. Hillman has six pass breakups and recorded the first interception of his career this season. It came in the season opener vs. New Mexico, starting the campaign in spectacular fashion.
“Football is really my thing,” Hillman said before the season began. “It keeps me going. It keeps me clocking like that. As we get closer to the season, yeah, I get really excited. I’m really working on myself to not get too excited, too crazy, because y’all know how I am on the field. I’m going to go out there and have a ball and hit somebody. But yeah, we’re all excited. Everybody’s excited. Just take it one game at a time.”
Michigan touted Hillman as a junior on his official roster bio. No redshirt has even been taken by Hillman. Meaning, only one season of eligibility is expected to remain.

Brandyn Hillman second Michigan DB to plan portal entry on Thursday
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Michigan defensive back Jayden Sanders plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Sanders is a former highly sought-after recruit but only spent one season in Ann Arbor with the Wolverines. He now hits the open market with a ton of potential and eligibility on his hands.
Playing time actually went to Sanders’ way early and often. He played in all 13 games for the Wolverines as a true freshman. A nice 23 tackles are on the stat sheet, as is one pass breakup. Michigan certainly thought they were getting a look at somebody who was going to be a major contributor in the future.
Sanders played high school football at Kilgore (TX), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 176 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
