Jordan Marshall injury update: Sherrone Moore reveals status of Michigan RB vs. Maryland
Jordan Marshall went down in the fourth quarter of Michigan‘s 24-22 win over Northwestern with a shoulder injury and did not return. On Monday, Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore updated his running back’s status after Week 12.
“X-rays were negative,” Moore revealed during his weekly press conference to begin Maryland week. “Feel good about where he’s at, but we’ll see. We’ll take it day by day and see where he’s at.”
At the time he left the game, he had 19 carries for 142 yards and two touchdowns on the night. Coming into the matchup, Marshall totaled 124 carries for 729 yards and eight touchdowns on the season.
After Marshall went down, Bryson Kuzdzal would come in to replace the injury Marshall, who is replacing the injured Justice Haynes himself. Despite the injury, Moore has confidence in Kuzdzal’s abilities out of the backfield.
“If Bryson has to be the guy, feel very comfortable with him,” Moore said. “He’s explosive. He’s probably faster than Jordan, probably not as strong, but maybe, he’s a strong kid for how built he is. He’s about 5’11”, 6 foot, 210, 215 (pounds).
“He’s got bursts probably right below Justice in the speed, but maybe right at that. He can get there. But a physical runner, he’s got more physical. Great kid that’s just worked his tail off to get where he needs to be, and I’m excited to see what he does.”

Kuzdzal, a junior, has been with the Wolverines his whole career. He didn’t see action as a true freshman before appearing in six games on special teams in 2024. Kuzdzal finally added rushing yards to his career stats this season and has 25 carries or 53 yards and a touchdown on the season.
His best game yet came during Week 12 when he logged 15 carries for 53 yards — both career highs. He wasn’t entirely clear during the win, as he did finish the matchup with a fumble.
For now, he’ll be looked at as RB1 in Ann Arbor unless Marshall is able to be cleared by Saturday. While Moore’s updates have been largely positive on his tailback’s condition, it’s never clear how much of that is actually coach speak.
We’ll know by the time kickoff on the road against Maryland rolls around, which is set for 4 p.m. ET. The game will air live on the Big Ten Network.
