Elliot Cadeau update: Latest on Michigan star's Final Four status revealed after allergic reaction
On Wednesday, Michigan guard Elliot Cadeau underwent a medical evaluation after suffering an allergic reaction. A Michigan spokesman told CBS Sports‘ Jon Rothstein that Cadeau is “doing fine and should be in Indianapolis soon” for the Wolverines’ showdown against Arizona in the Final Four. In an interview with OutKick‘s Dan Dakich, Michigan head coach Dusty May confirmed Cadeau is joining the team on Thursday.
Detroit radio station WWJ 950 posted a video on X of Cadeau being wheeled out of Michigan’s player development center on a gurney and loaded into a Huron Valley ambulance. Due to the reaction, Cadeau didn’t travel with the rest of Michigan’s team to Indianapolis.
“Before the team departed the Player Development Center today, Elliot alerted the medical staff that he may have had an allergic reaction to something that he ate,” Michigan said in a statement. “The doctors evaluated Elliot and he is fine. Out of an abundance of caution, he is receiving medical supervision and will be traveling to Indianapolis later today.”
Cadeau is averaging 10.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game this season, while shooting 41.6% from the field and 37.7% from beyond the arc. For his efforts, he was named an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection last month.
Cadeau will be pivotal to Michigan’s efforts against Arizona on Saturday. He recorded 17 points in the Wolverines’ win over Alabama in the Sweet 16. He followed up the performance with eight points and 10 assists against Tennessee in the Elite Eight.

Since 1957, Arizona and Michigan have met 10 times. Arizona boasts an 8-2 all-time record against the Wolverines. The two storied programs last clashed in September 2021, when the Wildcats ran away with a comfortable 80-62 victory. Dusty May knows his team has a tall task ahead of them.
“They’re fun to watch,” May said of Arizona on ‘Defend The Block.’ “They’re a lot like us, where they have some older guys that have made a lot of sacrifices to win and be in the position they’re in. They’re incredibly physical, they run the floor, they pound the paint off the bounce, off the post, especially on the offensive glass.
“We got a little segue with Tennessee, as far as their physicality. But it’s going to be two heavyweights going at it round for round. This isn’t a featherweight fight. This is two heavyweights going at it. It’s going to be fun going against those guys, because we have a lot of respect for the history of their program, their current players and their coaching.”
Michigan and Arizona will face off at 7:49 p.m. CT on Saturday. The game airs live on TBS, TruTV and HBO Max.
