Mohamed Toure injury update: Miami defender leaves game after scary collision with Rueben Owens in final seconds
Miami linebacker Mohamed Toure was injured late in the fourth quarter after delivering a vicious hit, breaking up a pass intended for Texas A&M’s Rueben Owens. He had movement in his extremities and was able to jog off the field.
Toure logged eight tackles in the game and immediately after exiting, Bryce Fitzgerald grabbed the game-winning interception. So long as Toure is cleared and good to go, he’ll join the Hurricanes in the quarterfinals at the Cotton Bowl vs. Ohio State.
In his lone season in Miami, Toure had 54 total tackles coming into Saturday. He also had two tackles for loss, one sack and three pass deflections.
A grad transfer from Rutgers, Toure began his college career in 2019. Injuries have derailed his college career, at least in terms of timing. He missed the entire 2022 and ’24 campaigns with the Scarlet Knights due to knee injuries, but has had a nice bounce back season in ’25 before pivoting to the NFL.

Mohamed Toure gets up after scary hit
Over his four other seasons prior to that with Rutgers, with 37 games played, Toure posted 168 tackles, 22.5 being for loss, with 13.5 sacks, along with five deflections, three forced fumbles and one recovery, and a pair of interceptions. That includes a career-best year as a senior the season prior when he had 93 tackles, 10 for loss, with 4.5 sacks, plus two deflections, a forced fumble, and an interception.
Toure, a native of Pleasantville, New Jersey, was just outside the Top 1,000 recruits as a three-star in the 2019 cycle. He was also rated as a Top 150 LB in the class and a Top 25 prospect from out of the state. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
With all that, Toure was previously the top available transfer left in the portal prior to his commitment this back in May. He was the No. 219 overall player and the No. 8 linebacker per the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players.
