LSU guard Mazi Mosley plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
LSU guard Mazi Mosley plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, per On3’s Joe Tipton. Mosley was a freshman this past season for Matt McMahon’s squad.
Mosley appeared in 19 games for the Tigers during the 2025-26 season. He averaged 6.8 minutes per game, but was always a threat from deep. He shot 38.5% from deep, making 10 3-pointers during his limited time on the court.
Before college, Mosley was a highly-touted recruit out of Prolific Prep in California. A four-star recruit according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 86 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle and No. 24 shooting guard in his class.
His planned entrance into the transfer portal isn’t all that surprising given the fact that he committed to McMahon’s regime. Matt McMahon was fired last week before being replaced by Will Wade, who was introduced as LSU head coach on Monday.

While Mosley’s playing time was limited, his recruiting status could allow him to get some high-major conference looks. Coming out of high school, he held offers from the likes of Michigan, Iowa and USC, among others.
As for LSU, the Tigers will move forward with the second chapter of the Will Wade era in 2026. However, Mosley will not be a part of their effort. Moreover, Wade promised to be active early when the NCAA transfer portal opens next week.
“We’re going to build a winning program, and we’re going to build this thing quick,” Wade said during his introductory press conference. “This is not something that’s going to take long. We’re going to get in that portal when it opens (on April 7), and we’re going to put together a winner, because everybody in here deserves a winner.”
