Miller Moss injury update: Louisville QB trending toward not playing vs. SMU
Louisville quarterback Miller Moss is trending toward not playing against SMU tomorrow, due to an undisclosed injury, per CBS Sports‘ Matt Zenitz. Redshirt freshman Deuce Adams is expected to start in place of Moss, if he’s unable to play.
Moss has started in all 10 of Louisville’s games this season. In the Cardinals’ 20-19 loss to Clemson last weekend, he completed 19-of-his-27 pass attempts for 212 yard. He didn’t throw a touchdown or an interception, but did run in a score.
Moss transferred to Louisville from USC ahead of this season. He’s completed 64.3% of his pass attempts for 2,344 yards and 11 touchdowns, while throwing seven interceptions. He’s recorded eight rushing TDs this season as well.
In Louisville’s Week 12 loss to Clemson, the Cardinals committed three unsportsmanlike penalties in the fourth quarter. After the game, Moss turned heads when he partly pinned Louisville’s lack of discipline on the program’s culture.
“I get it. You’re competitive. It’s getting to the end of the game. You want to do everything you can to win the game,” Moss said. “The ultimate competitors have the greatest amount of focus in those moments. … They’re able to kind of flatline and stay even-keeled. That’s obviously something that we have to work on.

“I don’t think something like that gets fixed week to week. That’s a cultural thing and an offseason thing that’s going to need to be addressed. It didn’t come down to any one thing or any one penalty. We own this as a team and we all have each other’s backs in doing that.”
Miller Moss’ backup, Deuce Adams, has only appeared in four games this season. In his limited action, he’s completed 3-of-his-4 pass attempts for 18 total yards.
Adams played high school football at Vandegrift (TX), where he was a three-star prospect. Adams was the No. 586 overall players and No. 37 QB in the 2024 recruiting cycle, according to Rivals Industry Rankings, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all three primary recruiting media services.
If Adams makes his first career start on Saturday, he’ll have a difficult challenge in front of him. SMU is on a two-game win streak and boasts 16 interceptions this season, the fourth-most in the country.
Louisville and SMU will square off at noon ET on Saturday. The game will air live on ESPN2.
