Georgia Bulldogs C Jackson McVey plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
Georgia center Jackson McVey plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, per agent 1 Love Sports Group, via On3’s Joe Tipton. McVey, a 7-foot-1 freshman this past season, did not see any action for the Bulldogs.
Before college, he averaged 26.2 points and 15.7 rebounds to go with 2.7 blocks for Gilmer County High School (GA) during his junior season. He played for Overtime Elite as a senior where he averaged 9.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 19.7 minutes per game.
McVey was a three-star recruit according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 24 big man in the 2025 recruiting class and 12th-ranked player from the state of Georgia.
While it’s unclear who will be interested him when the portal opens on April 7, he did hold offers from the likes of Florida State, Florida, Georgia Tech, Creighton and Stanford. With his size at 7-foot-1, not to mention 240-pounds, McVey is sure to find a program this offseason.

During his lone season with the Bulldogs, Georgia finished the season with a 22-11 record that ended with them earning a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament. However, their stay in March Madness ended in one game, falling to Saint Louis in the first round.
McVey is the third player from head coach Mike White’s roster this past season to reveal his intentions to transfer. Forward Dylan James and guard Jeremiah Wilkinson also plan to enter their names in the portal when it opens.
Looking ahead for the Bulldogs, White has led UGA to the NCAA Tournament in consecutive seasons. He’ll enter year five next season.
