Baylor transfer defensive lineman DK Kalu has committed to play for Florida in 2026, On3 has learned. He played the past three seasons with the Bears, appearing in 12 games during that span.

Nine of those 12 appearances came this past season, where Kalu recorded 11 total tackles, including 0.5 for loss. Now he’ll head to Gainesville to be a part of the first roster of the Jon Sumrall era.

DK Kalu played high school football for Ridge Point in Missouri City, Texas, where he was a three-star prospect. He ranked as the No. 684 overall player and No. 75 defensive lineman according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.

Florida has now added four players early on in the 2026 transfer portal cycle. Wilson is the second player that the Gators have brought in from Baylor, joining his teammate, safety DJ Coleman. They have also lost 24 players, including quarterback DJ Lagway, so expect more transfer additions to come over the next couple of weeks.

Florida is coming off of a 4-8 finish this past season, its worst record since 2017. The Gators are hoping to turn things around heading into this new era under Sumrall, and how they fare in the transfer portal will determine a lot heading into his inaugural season.

More on the transfer portal in 2026

The 15-day transfer portal this winter will be the only window, opening Jan. 2 and closing on Jan. 16. The NCAA opted to eliminate the spring transfer portal window for football, meaning this will be the only opportunity for student athletes to enter their names.

The move to a one-time-only portal is supposed to allow schools to finish their season with their entire team before the transfer portal opens. As has been the previous standard, athletes on College Football Playoff teams still playing would have 5 days beginning the day after their team’s final game to enter the transfer portal.

This season’s CFP semifinals are set for Jan. 8 and 9. The CFP national championship game is scheduled for Jan. 19 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
