WATCH: Clemson 4-star offensive line commit Ian Reed thunders in for touchdown run

Austin (Texas) Vandegrift offensive lineman and Clemson commit Ian Reed isn’t exactly featured in his high school program’s offense.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pounder is more bulldozer than he is Ferrari. But the four-star showed this weekend that he can do a little a bit of everything, even as a receiver.

On a trick play during Vandegrift’s game against Cedar Park on Friday night, Reed lined up at his normal tackle spot along the offensive line. On the snap, he drops into pass pro as the quarterback runs away from him. But instead of forming a pocket, Reed slips out into the backfield behind the passer to catch a throwback.

With an army in front of him, he bulldozes a defender that appears to be half his size before dragging four tacklers into the endzone, where he stretches and dives for the pylon.

Reed, who committed to Clemson in June over offers from Texas, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Wisconsin and others, is one of the country’s top offensive lineman this cycle.

According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Ian Reed is the No. 209 prospect in the 2023 class. He ranks as the nation’s No. 15 offensive lineman and the No. 38 senior in the state of Texas.
