WATCH: One-on-one with Baylor commit Matthew Klopfenstein
SCOTTSDALE, Ari. – A little over a month ago, Matthew Klopfenstein committed to Baylor over Arizona, Washington, and others.
The Bears were behind the in-state school earlier this spring, but the visit changed things.
“After I visited, it kind of opened my eyes,” Klopfenstein told On3. “After the visit, it just kind of felt like home. It was a different atmosphere.”
The 6-foot-5, 226-pound tight end at Horizon High is excited about what Dave Aranda is doing in Waco.

“He is building something special. He has a big-time contract, so he is going to be there for a while. I’m looking forward to what he going to do with the program. It is only going to go up.”
The three-star tight end is the No. 9 prospect in Arizona and he likes the fit at Baylor.
“Tight ends are used very heavily in Baylor’s system, so one thing I am looking forward to is getting in their system and evolving. They know how to use the tight end very well. I am looking forward to getting in the program and thriving as a player.”
There is more to Klopfenstein than just catching the ball and blocking.
“I am a big leader.”
