Former Auburn EDGE Jamonta Waller commits to Arakansas
According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, former Auburn EDGE Jamonta Waller has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Waller announced his intentions to enter the NCAA transfer portal after coaching changes on the Plains. Fast forward a few weeks and he remains in the SEC with Arkansas.
Waller wound up playing in just one game during his time at Auburn. Season-ending foot surgery cut his true freshman campaign short, only appearing against Alabama A&M. And then this past season, Waller did not take the field.
Three years of eligibility remain as a result. Auburn still listed Waller as a freshman on his official roster bio after a redshirt was taken in 2024. Folks in Fayetteville might be hoping they got a multi-year player out of the portal.
The On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings view Waller as a three-star prospect. He is the No. 803 overall player to enter this cycle. Just looking at his position, Waller gets into the top 100 at No. 78.
Looking at his high school days, Waller played at Picayune (MS) Picayune Memorial, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 137 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Before ultimately signing with Auburn, the Florida Gators were another program involved. Waller was committed to UF for quite some time, eventually deciding to join Hugh Freeze on the Plains.

Arkansas looking to bolster roster through NCAA transfer portal
Arkansas continues to bolster the line of scrimmage under new head coach Ryan Silverfield. Former Virginia defensive tackle Hunter Osborne recently got into the mix. Waller provides a little different skill set, hoping to get after the quarterback. It’s one that the Razorbacks might be hoping turns into a nice combination moving forward.
Defense was a major issue for Arkansas in 2024. As the offense thrived, Silverfield is likely looking for a little bit more balance. Most games saw the Razorbacks put up plenty of points, only to watch opposing offenses score at will.
Pick-ups such as Waller will help the effort moving forward. But there is still more work to be done ahead of the 2026 season.
