Arkansas CB Nigel Pringle enters NCAA transfer portal
Arkansas CB Nigel Pringle has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Pringle spent one season with the Razorbacks.
Committing to the Razorbacks in July 2024, Pringle told On3 at the time that the decision was primarily driven by the coaching staff. Of course, head coach Sam Pittman was fired mid-season so Pringle’s portal entry isn’t entirely unexpected.
Before college, Pringle was a three-star recruit according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 1,082 overall recruit and the No. 104 cornerback in the 2025 cycle.
He will join an Arkansas roster in 2026 looking to turn the program around after a 2-10 finish last season. The Razorbacks began 2025 with a 2-0 record before losing its last 10 games of the season to round out the year.
Pittman was fired after a 2-3 start, and Bobby Petrino took over as interim headman. Ryan Silverfield will now be tasked with turning around a program that has missed the postseason in six of the last nine years.

Before his hire, Silverfield had been the head coach at Memphis since 2020. During that time, he’s consistently had the Tigers performing as one of the top Group of Five teams in the country. That’s been particularly true over the past three seasons. Over the past three years, he went 29-9 at Memphis. That ties him for a Top 10 win percentage over that time.
At Memphis, Silverfield was 3-0 against USF’s Alex Golesh, who is now headed to Auburn. He was also 2-0 vs. North Texas‘ Eric Morris, who is now headed to Oklahoma State, and 1-0 vs. Iowa State‘s Matt Campbell.
In his six seasons at Memphis, Silverfield went 50-25 overall and 27-21 in American Conference play. He also led Memphis to four bowl wins, which is the most any individual coach has won in program history. In fact, he was 4-0 in bowls there, all against Power 4 opponents: Arkansas, Florida State, West Virginia, and Iowa State.
