Tim Keenan, Red Morgan injury update: ESPN reveals latest on Alabama stars' availability for Rose Bowl
Although Tim Keenan and Red Morgan left Friday’s game against Oklahoma with injuries, the Alabama defenders are expected to be alright, ESPN reported. Both players appear ready to play in the Rose Bowl against Indiana on New Year’s Day.
Keenan left Friday’s game in the fourth quarter and headed to the medical tent, though he was back on the sideline as Oklahoma missed a field goal. Morgan got hurt earlier in the game on a punt return and also headed to the tent.
However, Holly Rowe reported neither injury is expected to impact their availability for the Rose Bowl, Chris Fowler told Scott Van Pelt. Alabama will now have 13 days to get ready for the matchup against Indiana.
“Holly Rowe reported it, two Tide players – key defenders who left the game – Tim Keenan and Red Morgan do not appear to have serious injuries,” Fowler said on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt. “Could have returned tonight. So their presence for the Rose Bowl certainly is reassuring for Alabama fans.”
Keenan is an important part of the Alabama defensive line. He entered Friday’s game with 13 total tackles, including three tackles for loss and two sacks, along with two fumble recoveries. Morgan also has a big role in the secondary and has 34 tackles this year, including three TFLs.

Alabama struggled mightily in the first half against Oklahoma. The Crimson Tide had just 12 total yards as the Sooners sprinted out to a 17-0 lead.
But the breakthrough started when Ty Simpson turned to one of his up-and-coming wide receivers. Freshman Lotzeir Brooks powered his way into the end zone with seven minutes left in the first half, putting Alabama on the board. That play finally helped the Crimson Tide offense wake up, though Simpson said it turned into a team effort in all three phases.
“Lotzeir’s such a great player, man,” Simpson said. “He steps up in such a big way. I’m so proud of him and so proud of the guys. It wasn’t just that play. It was the defense, it was the special teams. Just all-around great football and a great job by the whole team, the 2025 Alabama team.”
Now, Alabama is heading to the Rose Bowl after securing a first-round win over Oklahoma. The Crimson Tide will take on No. 1 seed Indiana on New Year’s Day in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal.
